This DOS EQUIS advertisment in terms of it’s editing, soundtrack and the way they gave it that feel of 1960’s come 70’s oceans eleven appeal; most definitely creates a good piece of marketing, with a flow that is pretty cool indeed!

the artist that appears in it is Kaws, he got a pretty sweet deal out of this and most of the effort does not appear to be on his behalf?

Just a question though??

How did he get the gig and why did they choose him?

….. was the ad’ better then the graphic design and where is the most interesting man in the world?

P.S;  I love Dos Equis… its not a bad drop!

and why do i find myself saying more and more  “Kunst ist tot”

This animated movie called ‘Rio’ is yet to be released sometime in 2011. The makers of the ‘Ice Age’ seem busy indeed? 20th Century Fox put out a trailer for Blue Sky’s animated movie which is below.

It intially looks great, but i hear concerns from some Brazilians.. “will it be in Spanish, coz we don’t speak spanish”….. “what lame stereotypes will they hang on us again?”

Lets wait and see huh? Brazil is a complex place, a country supposedly growing economically whilst many wallow in squalor, where favela’s sprawl, violence path its streets and the richer get richer, whilst all clammer for the relief of once a year throwing it all away for carnivale’.

The beauty and granduer that is brazil would make for many a movie and so i wait anxiously for what i hope is an animated jem!

Some timely words from a dead person.

As Australia stares down the next few weeks towards a federal election here are a few quotes from a dead president of the US of A.

Thomas Jefferson.

“Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper.

Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle.”

“A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government.”

“Educate and inform the whole mass of the people… They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.”

“Experience demands that man is the only animal which devours his own kind, for I can apply no milder term to the general prey of the rich on the poor.”

“I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.”

“If the present Congress errs in too much talking, how can it be otherwise in a body to which the people send one hundred and fifty lawyers, whose trade it is to question everything, yield nothing, and talk by the hour?”

“Money, not morality, is the principle commerce of civilized nations.”

“Power is not alluring to pure minds.”

Australian’s be careful who you vote for this August 21st?

My Wish List.

I hate wanting things, but yet i love longing for things, this is our modern life, the wanting of stuff. Stuff that isn’t crucial to living though, for we are still able to get on each day, work, eat and go to bed at night, so really these wants are not important if we never get them, right? The balance between what we want and what we need reflects our contentment or lack there of, where do your scales tip?

But…. anyway, here’s some things i want, but really don’t  need!

Alex Steinweiss: Creator of the Modern Album Cover

(Limited Edition) [Hardcover]

Steven Heller (Author), Kevin Reagan (Author, Editor), Alex Steiweiss (Author)

Price: $ 500.00

Miles Davis: ESP record, not on CD or Mp3 …. but on wax! That’s how i want it… some people may get what i am saying here? First released in 1965.  You can get it for various prices online, ranging from 5pounds to $50?

Now i have ” A LOVE SUPREME” on cd &  MP3, bt the deal is to have it on record, anyone who enjoys watching a sunset and slowly sinking a amber, hard or cool drink would get me here? What i think is one of John Coltrane’s seminal recordings! Pricing ranges from $20 to $200…… depends on what you know and what they don’t or do know? 🙂

*More to come on this list!!

Got you covered baby.

Above here is the easily identifiable Bridget Bardot, but what isn’t obvious is that Brigitte is on a rare Iranian single record  sleeve cover by Royal Records. Boy, havent times changed in Iran huh? More about Iran and records “here”

Though, where did i find such a beauty of an image and record cover, well right “here” Visit LP Cover Lover! at LP Cover Lover – The World’s Greatest LP Album Covers, a great and fabulous blog devoted to the wonderful and forgotten world of album covers, a collection of images perhaps without parallel on the net.

I have a particular love for Jazz covers f the 1950’s and 60’s, the photography and art are incredible and encapsulate the period of time and music with incredible simplicity but style, hip indeed daddy O”.

So i encourage to subscribe to the feed and take a bit of time around the blog, be inspired, be gob smacked, bent over in laughter and even disturbed, but all in all go and buy some records for your shelves, it’ll look good next to your Ipod dock 🙂
